This summer I have learned much about data management having worked closely with the module content. One of the areas of data management involves scientific workflows which allows for the sharing and reuse of individual steps and processes across different disciplines and groups.
My focus in the next few weeks will be to launch as many modules as possible within the remaining timeframe but perhaps more importantly, I hope to share with the Working Group my process and tools used in the development of the DataONE online learning modules as well as what things I would do differently if starting over. I think by sharing my personal process will help allow for some degree of duplication or at least serve as a foundation for further development. It is only by going through the process can we determine what works and what doesn’t work before determining if a designed workflow is an efficient one—
