For the last few weeks, I have been continuing to read and organizing the literature, began drafting the IRB, and research proposal.
In order to share literature, resources, and get feedback, we’ve set up a dropbox folder and an excel spreadsheet of the various literature I’ve been reading to set up the study design. In order to gain a full understanding of the problem, I’ve researching several focus areas. This literature is broken down into specific focus areas including:
1. DataONE specific literature & member node descriptions
2. Examples of metadata registries
3. Literature related to metadata registries in general and scientific metadata.
4. Important websites
From this literature, I’ve begun to draft the IRB and survey instruments.
It is useful to gather information on member nodes together. It would be good to post URLS or addresses for registries you have been exploring and give an idea of criteria for examination. I see some of this in the dropbox, and know you have made good progress, but share some of the juicy stuff with others who may read the blog, or be attracted to this project. A bit more detail here can also invite feedback, and other may share pointers. On websites, the same thing… and love your idea to put your articles in Mendeley.
