{"id":1032,"date":"2012-06-16T12:48:18","date_gmt":"2012-06-16T12:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/notebooks.dataone.org\/metadata-registry\/?p=20"},"modified":"2013-05-15T16:48:43","modified_gmt":"2013-05-15T16:48:43","slug":"week-1-high-level-background-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/notebooks.dataone.org\/metadata-registry-framework\/week-1-high-level-background-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 1  &#8211; High Level Background Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone!<\/p>\n<p>Here are my activities for Week One.\u00a0 Mostly I&#8217;ve been working on some background reading in order to structure the rest of the summer.\u00a0 The outline from my mentor plan is below.<\/p>\n<p>Hope everyone else activities are going well!<br \/>\nAngela<\/p>\n<p><strong>Week 1 (Jun 4<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Jun 8<sup>th<\/sup>)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Project Activities:<br \/>\n<\/strong>High Level Background Research<br \/>\n<strong>Development opportunities for the intern:<\/strong><br \/>\nBackground preparation\/information gathering:<em><br \/>\nCreate background reading list &amp; annotated bibliography to address the following questions\/themes:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>What is a registry?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Identify existing registries?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Identify the range of registries (metadata\/standards\/ontologies)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Who is evaluating registries?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What methods are they using?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What type of evaluation is currently underway &amp; what\u2019s been done?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Where are the gaps? <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Expected Outcomes:<\/strong><br \/>\nThis background research will help structure the remainder of the project.\u00a0 The purpose of this work is to provide a solid foundation for identifying and understanding the relevant literature, registries, and past and current projects that will inform the current project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Complete?<\/strong><br \/>\nContinual<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone!
